I spent this weekend in the Big Apple visiting Jessie with our other friend Brittany! It was originally supposed to be a mini-reunion weekend with the girls I used to work with at the Kastles, but due to some unfortunate health issues going on in our other friend Courtney’s family we had to make some last minute changes and alter our plans. Luckily, Jessie was able to step in and let us stay with her!
I took the bus up on Saturday morning (after spending Friday night celebrating with Adam because he passed the Maryland bar exam!!!) and headed to Jessie’s apartment to drop off my stuff. Jessie is awesome and had banana funfetti cupcakes with chocolate frosting waiting for me! The whole weekend turned into a super fun celebration of my recent engagement (I promise to do a whole proposal blog post sometime soon!!). After munching on a cupcake we headed to lunch and then walked around Central Park.
It was a gorgeous and warm fall day and the park was packed with people, children and dogs! It was the perfect place to spend the afternoon. From the park we stopped in for froyo and did a little shopping before heading back to Jessie’s to get ready for a fancy night out in Manhattan. Jessie straightened my hair because she is the BEST and we sipped on champagne while getting dressed.
Looking good for our night out!
We headed downtown and met Courtney for dinner at Mercer Kitchen. The restaurant was super modern and trendy and it was so great that Courtney was able to meet up with us! With the family stuff going on we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to see her so it was a nice treat. It was extra nice because she came bearing gifts: a giant champagne balloon, a tiara with a veil and a sweet engagement card from all the girls (including from our other friend Brittany who ended up not making the trip to NYC). It was seriously so special to celebrate my engagement with some of my closest girlfriends!
At dinner we shared a bottle of champagne and two amazing appetizers: fresh burrata mozzarella with fig jam over arugula and a shrimp salad with avocado that was so simple but so delicious. The cheese in the first dish was also perfectly creamy. We loved both dishes! For my entree I got skate with sushi rice and asparagus. It was both beautiful and delicious! We also shared a bottle of prosecco and some wine during the meal so we were feeling great!
The waiter surprised me with an incredible cheesecake dessert served with raspberry sorbet. How sweet and delicious!
We headed for a couple more drinks after dinner then ended up cabbing back to Jessie’s, exhausted after a long day in the city! On Sunday we woke up and headed to brunch at Crema. We enjoyed all you can drink mimosas and tasty Mexican brunch entrees. Shortly after brunch, Brittany and I had to head back to the bus and thus was the end of our amazing New York City weekend! Thanks to Jessie, Courtney and Brit for a fantastically fun weekend!!
